StartUpUp – Educated Life

Milan Kuzica’s abstract sculptural art is characteristic for its application of artificial colors on organic shapes. Orchard I. is inspired by the work’s setting, a castle fruit grove. It was created for the former Castle Park fruit orchard, to complement one of the proposed garden series on the subject of a ‘Joyful (spontaneous / natural) garden’. The grafted scions jut out and grow vigorously toward the sky and stand at the beginning of the neglected site’s recultivation. In a later variant titled StartUpUp, distinct in color and material, the sculpture thematizes the widely-appreciated need to “engraft” knowledge into new generations.

Permanent installation in 2015 in Dolní Počernice Castle Park. Colored version exhibited in 2019 at Třeboň World of Sculpture, Třeboň. Colored bronze version exhibited in 2022 at Sculpture by the Sea in Perth, Australia.
